Sandblasting vs. Rustbeeter™!

Why is the sandblasting process a bad choice for restoring metal objects?

Remember:

  • Sandblasting is an abrasive process.
  • Glass bead blasting is an abrasive process.
  • Plastic media blasting is an abrasive process.
  • Soda Blasting is an abrasive process.

ALL abrasive processes deteriorate or alter the surface of the treated part. Changing the surface or patina of the part might not be desirable and is not an option if you wish to preserve your collectable or artifact for future generations.

Note: The Smithsonian Institution does not allow sandblasting of any metal artifacts ever!
